A designer who can write the code to bring their digital schematics to life; a coder who knows how to design what they’ve written. Relatively rare in the tech industry, you know, like a unicorn in myths of lore.
I hold a BA in Journalism from Eastern Washington University and a BA in Digital Technology and Culture, Summa Cum Laude, from Washington State University Tri-Cities. I have more than eight years of professional experience working in design, five of which have been with an emphasis on web graphics, development, and user experience and interaction design, with agencies such as the National Weather Service and Washington State University.
My background in journalism and web design help me bring a diverse set of skills to my job. My skill set includes wireframing, prototyping, site mapping, concept sketching, strategy development, content management, long-term project management, copy writing, copy editing, event photography, video editing, graphic design, agile software development, web design and development, technical writing, and technical training. Because of my prior work in a newsroom environment, I’m at ease with tight deadlines and quick to flex my skills depending on what’s needed of me for the task at hand.
Outside of work, I enjoy consuming copious amounts of coffee (let’s be honest, that’s during work too), playing video games, geocaching, photography, creating and editing video blogs, baking and cooking, and exploring Raleigh via dog parks and nature trails with my black lab.
